Among the cars that describe the epitome of class and German finesse. Often called the best car in the world and Mercedes-Benz’s crown jewel, the Mercedes-Benz S 350 CDI has finally been launched in India at Rs 1.07 Crore . The S 350 CDI is one of the more highly awaited models and MBIL’s sixth launch in 2014. It is also a highly sought after versions of the Sonderklasse. Aside from the luxury of getting the premium saloon at a lower price than the imported S 500 or the locally assembled one, the S 350 also gets a good premium diesel resale value.
The Mercedes S350 CDI is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 diesel powerplant that has a maximum power output of 258 hp at 3600 rpm and a peak torque of 620 Nm between 1,600 and 2,400 rpm. o-100 km/h comes up in 6.8 seconds and the limousine has a top speed of 250 km/h. It will be mated to a 7G-Tronic Plus automatic transmission. The S 350 will have more or less the same features as the S 500, however the diesels normally have a few features cut. The 3D surround sound system, Nappa leather, night vision system and cupholder with heat/cool system will be a few features that wont be seen in the S 350 CDI. The rear seats too will be in a bench format and not individual seats for two people making it suitable for 3 rear passengers.

Mercedes-Benz dealers have already started accepting bookings for the S 350 CDI at a price of Rs 5 Lakh. Production of the S 350 CDI is already underway at the brand’s plant in Chakan, Pune and operations will be increased if the demand requires it.
The CBU S 500 was launched at a price of Rs 1.57 crore while the locally manufactured S 500 was launched at Rs 1.36 crore. MBIL has the highest number of dealerships for a luxury brand in India, with 64 dealerships across 36 cities. Mercedes also opened 3 AMG performance centres in 2014. The German car maker currently produces 10,000 cars annually which it aims to double by the end of FY 2014.
