The New Honda CRV Review

Honda's premium SUV, the CR-V has gone through a lot of change with the fourth generation. On sale in India since 2003, Honda has managed to sell 14,000 units of the SUV to date and it hopes to continue making an impact on the small, premium petrol SUV market.

First things first, the CR-V is now assembled in India and that should bring down the price considerably. The bad news is, you don't still get a diesel option. On offer are the same 2.0 litre and 2.4-litre, four-cylinder i-VTEC petrols. The former comes with a 6-speed manual and 5-speed auto option while the latter is a 5-speed auto only with paddle shifters. There is quite some power jump too; the 2.0 now produces 155 bhp of peak power, up from 143 bhp, while the 2.4 now churns out 188 bhp, up from the 166 earlier. Fuel economy is now 13.7 kpl for the 2.0 and 12 kpl for the 2.4, all ARAI.

While it does look larger on the outside, it actually is 30 mm shorter in length, while the wheelbase is identical. Honda claims the car is lighter than the last car, but gives no number to it. It also has 9 per cent better torsional rigidity. The looks though are more evolutionary, yet it makes the CR-V more aggressive from the front and svelte from the rear - Volvo XC60 like in fact.

On the inside, Honda has tried to make amends by stacking it up with features. All versions come with six airbags, cruise control and an audio system with lots of features. The top-end 2.4 auto gets a touchscreen with bluetooth and navigation too! Changes to the seating layout have meant better headroom and more luggage room too. In fact, the second row of seats can be flipped forward using a lever in the boot. Clever! Sadly, there is still no third row of seats, though.

Lamborghini Aventador is Cristiano Ronaldo’s new baby

Cristiano Ronaldo, not only known for his talent on field but also his drop dead looks has now made news with the arrival of his new car, Lamborghini Aventador. News is that, the Portuguese football star was out for a dinner with his family at a club when this gift was delivered to him. The brand-new black Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 car was arrived right at the restaurant for him.

This Italian beast of a car is rigged with a 690hp V12 engine with a capacity of 6.5 liter. It can notch up a speed of 62 miles per hour from naught in the blink of an eye, just 2.9 seconds. And it hits the top speed of 217 mph in just a few more seconds. The price of the super car is estimated to be around $379, 700.

Well, there can hardly be a better way to celebrate your 27th birthday than this. Let’s hope Ronaldo doesn’t send this one crashing too, like his old super car which he crashed in a tunnel some time back.

Green Wheels This Chinese stretched electric scooter can accommodate 12 people

China, known to dazzle the world with their technology, is now also sending waves through their innovation and creativity. An exhibition in Hefei (capital of East China’s Anhui province) for household appliances showcased an electric scooter which can easily mistake for a limousine from a distance. It has been designed keeping in mind the requirement of conserving electricity and natural resources and can accommodate as many as 12 people.

It is 4.7 meters in length and irrespective of that, has two tires only. It is made by a company called ‘China Lanbei’ from Zhejiang Province which are known for making all sorts of scooters and bikes.

It has been exported to some European countries and is being priced around 150,000 yuan ($23, 000).

It weighs about a ton and gives an impressive mileage of 400 km once it has been fully charged. This innovation has been brought into action because it is the need of the hour as China regularly suffers from horrible traffic snarls.

If this new innovation works, it will not be long before normal people also start commuting by limousines. Make space and keep an eye out for this poor man’s limousine.

Amazing Dog in New Zealand drives a MINI, really

Meet Porter, the pound dog from Auckland, New Zealand. This intelligent animal received extensive training and some sort of preparation to drive a Mini on a racing track. Yes, really!

On his own, he started the car, drove it forward, and even turned it by operating the steering wheel, automatic gearbox shifter, throttle and brake – ofcourse under his trainer’s supervision.

The SPCA of Auckland wanted to prove that the rescued dogs are not second-rate, are smart and deserve to be adopted and hence they chose three dogs – Ginny, Monty and Porter, who was smartest amongst them and was a quick learner. Good job Porter!

Well, a dog driving a car is not something to be taken casually. The dog driving is a must watch for all of us to witness a real dog driving a real car, really! Check out the videos below!

2013 Range Rover SDV8 tows Airstream Trailer Caravan

In a bid to prove itself strong and mightier, the 2013 Range Rover SDV8 towed and pulled the Airstream caravan trailer right from England to Morocco back to England.

It was an 11 days journey and it was all made possible with the 339 PS turbo diesel in the SDV8. The SUV with the help of this powerful engine pulled 2,399 kg (5,289 pounds) of Airstream caravan across 3,676 miles (5,915 kilometers).

“The new Range Rover’s towing ability is nothing short of stunning. It pulled the two and a half tonne Airstream like it simply wasn’t there,” said Ben Samuelson. His firm Samuelson Wylie Associates had organized the journey.

“You can compare the Airstream to a boutique hotel – albeit a mobile one – and taking this combination of rig on your travels injects some serious style and comfort,”
