Indian Automotive company ICML, credited with the Sonalika Rhino MUV, is planning on introducing Chinese car manufacturer, Great Wall Motors’ Haval H5 SUV into the Indian market. The Haval H5 if launched in India will be third Chinese SUV to make it into the Indian market with the Premier Rio (Zotye Nomad) and the Force One (Guangdong Foday Explorer) being the other two.

The Haval H5 is also known as the Hover and X240 in other markets and sports an upmarket exterior styling. The Haval H5 is available in 5 and 7 seater options with a choice of both petrol and diesel engines. The petrol unit is a 2.4-litre oil burner that churns out 134bhp and 20.3kgm of torque while the diesel counterpart is a 2 litre common rail diesel engine that uses a variable geometry turbocharger and is capable of delivering 150bhp and 310Nm of torque.

Audi Q1 Crossover based on the A1 Platform a possibility

Audi is reportedly working on a new crossover based on the A1 compact hatch. From what little we know, the new Audi Q1 is to be positioned below the Q3 and will go on head to head with the likes of the Mini Countryman and BMW X1. Don’t get too excited though, Audi has also added that the Q1 is on the way, but not any time soon.

“We are not looking at what other manufacturers are doing, but we are looking at different body types”, an Audi inside told WhatCar. “You’ve seen how our SUVs have been getting smaller – Q7, Q5, Q3 – and the A1 platform could go in that direction, but nothing is planned for the near future.”

The eMO (Electric MObility) concept has been engineered and developed by more than 300 engineers from the Tata Technologies four automotive engineering centers of excellence worldwide – Pune (India), Detroit, Coventry (UK), and Stuttgart (Germany).

The eMO (Electric MObility) concept features a liquid-cooled, dual-motor, front-wheel-drive drivetrain coupled
with an air-cooled 18.4 kW high-energy/density battery. It is capable of reaching 161 km on a single charge and has a top speed of 105 km/h. Additional features include nine air bags, a full steel safety cage, a dashboard touchscreen interface, and easy-access rear suicide doors, combined with forward-opening front doors.

The suspension incorporates an independent front lower A arm and MacPherson struts. The rear suspension has a semi-trailing link with separate mounting shock absorbers and springs. Front disc and rear drum brakes are antilock with electronic stability control. Steering is provided by an electric power-assisted rack-and-pinion system.

Despite being a low price tageted EV, the Tata eMO concept has no plans of being mass produced at present. Warren Harris, Tata Technologies President and Global COO stated, “We developed it strictly as an engineering study with no particular automaker in mind. If there are auto companies interested in exploring the potential of the eMO, we would, of course, welcome that opportunity.”
